John Constable joins Malcom Hopkins in the studio to discuss his work in Southwark, where he has lived for the last 20 years.
John is a playwright, poet, performer and author of Secret Bankside and The Southwark Mysteries. Six years ago while walking in his local neighbourhood, John’s alter ego, John Crow, was led to a site on Redcross Way by The Goose (the spirit of a medieval Bankside whore). Once back home John’s research revealed the site to be that of Crossbones Graveyard which was originally a pauper’s graveyard, but also served as a final resting place for the area’s many prostitutes. From then on, the site was to become a huge part of John’s life.
